I got this mail from one Mr. Femi Ogunniyi, it is a reaction to my last blog on Ban of Car Dealers by Fashola and i think it worths posting for all to read and make comments. Please take time to follow this:
"I think the Government of Lagos State, headed by His Excellency Barr. Babatunde Fashola, should concentrate more on actualising projects that will benefit the Citizens of the State directly. We have had enough of the draconian laws that his government has been shunning out without adequate recourse to the general Masses who he is supposed to be governing.
Once upon a time it was an environmental tax meant to be paid by users of generating Sets,bore-holes,etc-what a price to pay for government inefficiencies in the area of providing good social amenities. Anyway that law never saw the light of day as it was criticised to death before its birth. At some other time, it was the arrest of ladies not well dressed on the Streets of Lagos. The State Authorities also denied any link with this, as it was considered uncivilized by poeple of veritable social understanding. Later it was the traffic Laws of the State, where somebody is arrested, he risk being prosecuted along other occupants of the car, bus,or okada, as the case may be.
Now it is the issue of Car Dealers regulation, which is not an issue that will be of help to the good people of Lagos State. There are other ways through which the Government can check car theft,or robbery; but not through some bougouse manner that keep raising moral questions on the priorities of the government.
The roads in Lagos State are in terrible state, yet we are busy planting flowers. Coming/going to/from Ipaja/Ayobo area of ALIMOSHO L.G.A. or Anthony-Maryland takes you nothing less than 4hrs. Yes we learnt that the contract has been awarded;'good' you'll say,but can't we split these contracts among 2 or 3 qualified companies in order to fast track its execution? if indeed this government is people centered.
Mind you, i am not against this government,in fact i did not only vote for this government, i campaigned for this government during election,i even contributed by way of designing a ring tone for fashola during his campaigns.I did not make a kobo from that venture because i believe it may be my own little contribution to a positive change, in addition to the fact that i never prayed for an Obasanjo governmemt in Lagos.
At times you wonder if Nigerian Politicians are any different be it AC,PDP,ANPP,PPA or whatever. They are all interested in one thing - 'milking the masses dry'- and using the law to strangulate them and further protect themselves inspite of their nefarious activities. After all they and their law enforcement Agents are above the law.
Anyway I believe that our Leaders can change to be more focused on serving the People, however let us point it out to them where thay stray and commend them where they do well.

Lagos State Government To Ban Illegal Car Dealers
I got this news today from PM News, and i think it worth discussing because things must not be impose on Lagosians just like that without government seeking the people's opinion.
Read on and share your view with all.
Governor Babatunde Fashola of Lagos State, has ordered the ban of indiscriminate display of vehicles for sale across the state, with effect from 1 January, 2009.
In a bid to sanitise the sector, Fashola said the state was ready to enforce the motor administration law which provides for registration and regulation of the activities of motor vehicle and motor vehicle spare parts dealers within the state.
Commissioner for Transportation, Prof. Bamidele Badejo, disclosed yesterday, at a stakeholders’ meeting with motor vehicle dealers in the state, that the law would be in force as from 1 January, 2009.
Badejo stated that when the law becomes operational, it would become practically impossible for an unregistered auto dealer to operate in the state, adding that it would become illegal for anybody to personally sell vehicles without going through a registered dealer.
“It will be illegal for anybody to display vehicles on the roadside for sale as such act runs contrary to the town and physical planning as well as environmental laws, apart from providing a ready channel for disposing stolen vehicles.
“On the other hand, members of the public willing to buy a car will be confident that he/she is buying a problem-free product as the dealer is operating under the stipulated law,” he stated.
Badejo disclosed that when the law comes into force, innocent citizens would no longer fall foul of the law for having bought stolen vehicles from unregistered premises and faceless sellers.
“A lot of stolen vehicles have been discovered through the Autoreg system. It is the buyer that is arrested and in most cases, investigation may be inconclusive as the seller may have disappeared.
“We must protect those unsuspecting citizens as well as genuine dealers who are here. Let me say that the state government is out to protect the consumer, not by this law alone, but through another law in the making, now in the State House of Assembly.
“I want to reveal that from January next year, the law will be implemented to the letter and I want to appeal to you to support the government in this direction,” he told the auto-dealers.
Permanent Secretary, Motor Vehicle Administration Agency, Mr. Akin Hanson, also disclosed that as from 1 January, 2008, the agency would stop issuance of change of ownership on any car except it is certified through a registered motor dealer. “We were about to start the implementation of the law, but Governor Babatunde Fashola decided that we should talk about this law with motor dealers first. We want to drive out quacks,” he stated.

Brad Pitt and Gay Marriage.
On Wednesday september 17, AP reported this:
Brad Pitt donates money to support gay marriage (Wed Sep 17, 9:17 PM ET)
LOS ANGELES - Brad Pitt has donated $100,000 to fight California's November ballot initiative that would overturn the state Supreme Court decision legalizing same-sex marriage.
It's the first time voters will be asked to ban same-sex marriage in a state where gay couples already have won the right to wed. Same-sex marriage is legal in Massachusetts and California.
It's the first time voters will be asked to decide the issue in either California or Massachusetts — the states where gays have won the right to wed.
"Because no one has the right to deny another their life, even though they disagree with it, because everyone has the right to live the life they so desire if it doesn't harm another and because discrimination has no place in America, my vote will be for equality and against Proposition 8," Pitt said Wednesday.
Trevor Neilson, Pitt's political and philanthropic adviser, told The Associated Press that Pitt was surprised that his colleagues in the entertainment industry had not donated more money to support the battle against Proposition 8.
Earlier in the week, Pitt and Angelina Jolie announced they donated $2 million to help fight HIV/AIDS and tuberculosis in Ethiopia.
I think Nigerian should do something before this issue of gay marriage get to us than it is now.

United State Pastor Fund Homosexual Pastors in Nigeria
Homosexualism is taking stage in Christendom in Nigeria just like in other parts of the world. I believe this is no news, except if you have not been following this blog. This news here is that, it has been revealed (City People, Sept 24 2008) that this gay pastors and churches are funded by the self acclaimed Pastor and Prophet, Rev.Elder Troy D. Perry, the man who has been behind the gay marriages ruling in the United State of America. It will be recall that Rev.Pastor Troy had been a controversial pastor for over 3 decades now. He is the founder of the predominantly gay Metropolitan Community Church (MCC) in Los Angeles, America which has grown to be one of the world's largest organisation for gays.
Many has been wondering how Rev.Jide Macaulay of House of Rainbow get money to fund his church and throw around in getting more followers in this present day Nigeria, alas the visit of the US Gay pastor revealled this.
A couple of weeks back, some delegates and foreign sponsors came into the country to attend Macauley's House of Rainbow (branch of MCC), the fund made readily available has made more people to join them as there has been an increase in the numbers of gay Pastors and even followers joining their 'ministry'.
Could it simply be because there is no law restricting the freedom of association that is bringing about more gay pastors, and making them flaunt their muscles about being gay?
What a crasy world?

Aftermath of Thirdmainland Bridge Closure
Less than two months of closing part of the third mainland bridge, Lagosians had already adjusted, trust lagosians - always adjusting quickly and easily. Thats why it is easy for anything to happen here in Lagos. Once it happens, people talk for the very first time, few days after it would all be over. Then we adjust and nothing is done about everything.
Traffic on the high way is the end result of the closure of the third main land bridge. Have you taken the Ikorodu - lagos road or the Funsho Williams Avenue link road recently, and experience the aftermath of the bridge closure?
The repair, i can tell you would definitely take more than the stipulated months - trust nigeria.
You wonder atimes when you see a long traffic on the Mainland bridge and the Ikorodo access road, "when would this people get to their offices, meetings or homes?". This and many other things makes lagos special, crazy, and a fun city where you expect the unexpected anytime, anyday.
Share your experience with others, expecially on Lagos raod.

GAY CHURCH IN LAGOS. Can it Stand?
The first gay church in Nigeria opens its doors to gay members in Lagos.
House of Rainbow Mission Statement:
House Of Rainbow is committed to basic Christian Gospel, that the love of God is freely available to all people, through the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. Statement of Vision: We are on a bold mission to transform hearts, lives, and history. We are a movement that faithfully proclaims God’s inclusive love for all people and proudly bears witness to the holy integration of spirituality and sexuality.
The church, House of Rainbow MCC Lagos Nigeria, accessible online via its blog, has about 30 gay members and is headed by the gay Rev. Jide Macaulay who dresses in rainbow flag bellow.
In a country where homosexuality is a crime punishable by 14 years imprisonment, the establishment of the church is a bold step.
But besides its legal implications, how can House of Rainbow even reconcile its mission with the Christian doctrines?
For example, The Book of Leviticus of the Bible; chapter 20 and verse 13 states:
If a man also lie with mankind, as he lieth with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination: they shall surely be put to death; their blood shall be upon them.
Doesn’t House of Rainbow’s mission contradict biblical principles?
